Bees
Ireland has 102 different species of bee, the majority of which are wild and live in our natural landscape. Ireland has only one honey bee - Apis mellifera mellifera
Ireland has one of the largest and purest genetic strains of Apis mellifera mellifera, also known as the European Dark honey. This once prolific bee, is now limited to a few geographic locations, Ireland being one of them. We are working hard to conserve our native honey bee. With your support we can continue to help our native bee thrive.

Process
We extract our local honey ourselves and jar it all in our honey house, adhering to the latest honey requirements from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. We screen-print our jars to eliminate the need for single-use plastic labelling and our the jars can be returned for future reuse.
Origin
OpenHive bees can be found in 26 apiaries across Dublin, Wicklow & Galway.
We keep our Irish black bees naturally, with as few interventions as possible.
